After extensive research, I enrolled in Minnesota’s chiropractic college summer of 2021, a school that emphasizes evidence-based manual therapy. My training has been immensely challenging and fulfilling. It has helped me to merge my embodied awareness cultivated through years of dance with the scientific and medicinal body knowledge of chiropractic.
My life's work is to support people in deepening their conscious connection to their bodies for the purpose of cultivating authentic health and healing. Befriending our own bodies, their honest histories, and their wise needs requires real support, and I am honored to be alongside you on that journey. I trust in an integrative care model that blends rigorous health sciences with healing arts to generate sustainable change and profound trust in ourselves, each other, and this earth. In addition to chiropractic, I train in craniosacral therapy, functional medicine, perinatal/pediatric health, and trauma-informed care. I dedicate myself to providing care that is respectful of your unique culture and medical history.
It is with immense gratitude and excitement that I return to these cherished foothills to intern with my mentor Dr. Heather Hunt, DC. I am eager to contribute to the health and vitality of our beloved community with compassionate chiropractic care. You’ll see me observing Dr. Heather, helping with treatments, and in time providing care from start to finish.
In addition, I continue to practice and lead yoga and dance classes that are designed with a vision of heart-body medicine. Over the last 10 years of teaching, I’ve come to believe in community movement as an entry point into healing, resilience building, and joy. I’ll begin the first summer yoga series at Hunt Vitality Chiropractic & Wellness Center, Inc. this June!
Outside of the clinic, I enjoy going for long walks in nature, dancing in my living room, chatting with loved ones over coffee, and cooking meals from my Italian and Mexican roots with my partner Max.
Meet Annie
Annie (Maria) Aguilar (she/her)
I was born and raised here in Nevada County, where I spent my childhood dancing, guided by teachers who nurtured my creative expression. Since then, I’ve studied dance, yoga, somatics, and other movement techniques in New York, San Francisco, Vermont, Minneapolis, and South America.
In 2019, I graduated from Middlebury College with a bachelor's degree in neuroscience, completed my first birth doula training, and prepared to dance professionally. These years were also marked with chronic injury, which significantly altered my ability to move. On a break from school, I followed a recommendation to see local chiropractor Dr. Heather Hunt. She was the first health professional who truly listened to my story and who believed my level of pain. She treated me as a whole person, and helped me heal my tissue from the inside out with nutritional support and nervous system restoration. Then the global pandemic prompted a transformative shift in my career trajectory, leading me from performance to the healing arts. My lens on chiropractic is highly influenced by my fascination with the body's ability to recover from injury and find freedom of movement.
